Cheesecake

The April 2009 challenge is hosted by Jenny from Jenny Bakes. She has chosen Abbey's Infamous Cheesecake as the challenge.

Finished product. Lemon and lime wheels on my tropical inspired cake, peaches on the cobbler cake. I'll have feedback and opions posted.

I made the crust our of a sugra cookie like dough, added toasted coconut. I wrapped in cling wrap then foil and baked in a water bath.To bathe or not to bathe, the question of the day. I've baked many a cheesecake in my time, I prefer the finished texture of a cake baked in the water bath.

My second is a peach cobbler cheesecake. I added cinnamon to the crumb base with peaches in the filling. I hope my coworkers appreciate my efforts as I've brought the cakes to work for consumption.

I made two cheesecake varities this week. The first is a lemon filling with a toasted coconut shortbread crumb crust. The second is a peach cobbler cheesecake. I added cinnamon to the cookie crust and peaches to the filling.

April Challenge

The April challenge is Cheesecake. This is my first challenge and I'm just a tad disappointed because I make cheesecakes often. BUT, I can offset the disappointment by reminding myself that it's CHEESECAKE, the modern day manna from Heaven!!

I have the basic recipe and I'm allowed to add flavors. I also have the liberty of topping it any way I want. I'm tossing around a few ideas and will experiement this weekend (and the next, and the one after that). I'm sure my famil;y and co-workes will be terribly disappointed having to eat test cheesecakes. Bummer for them.

I have a hummingbird cake to bake and decorate as a Coach purse for a Saturday birthday. This will be my first purse cake, so I'm excited.

I'll post my ideas and my results as I go.

Daring Baker

I'm going to try the challenges. Sounds TOO fun not to participate
